Below you can read more about where I grew up and how. It will inform you about my major and plans. You can also view my updated video portfolio.
I grew up in the small town of Hayti, SD. My loving family consists of my supportive mother, hard-working father, and two younger sisters. We are a busy family involved in our community. Both of my sisters participate in sports, and we would never miss a chance to cheer them on. We are a 4-H family; in that case, hard work and mud are no strangers to us. Throughout my 4-H years, I showed dog, rodeoed, showed horses, showed projects, and lots of community service.
Along with 4-H, in high school, I was involved in Volleyball, Football Cheer, Basketball Cheer, NHS, and I Student-Managed for Girl's Basketball. To add to all of these activities, I worked several different jobs throughout high school. I am current teaching ELL and First Grade in Colman, Sd. This job consists of paperwork, planning, and teaching new skills and helping refine old ones. Even though I am a busy, I know education comes first, this is why I knew my passion was teaching. Initially, I went to college to become a vet, enrolling in SDSU's Pre-Vet program. I concluded that this career wasn't for me. I knew I enjoyed working in the classroom and encouraging children; this was when I knew I needed to consider education. That's when I moved to Madison to become a student at Dakota State University. I am confident now that I am on the correct career path. Inspiring and educating my students in the classroom will be highly fulfilling; however, I know this career will come with its trials and errors. Altogether, it will be setting me up for a successful future. |
